Buhlogs: Static Cling Decal Installation Video

The Buhl Press is often asked for our recommendation on how to best install a Static Cling decal.

Thus, we produced the following video, which demonstrates our step-by-step installation procedures.

Materials needed:

Temperature:

The application surface and accompanying ambient area should be 40°F or above for best results

Surface cleanliness:

The application surface must be clean and free of any dirt, grease, oil, wax, dust, gum or foreign matter
Household and/or available commercial cleansers or cleaning solvents can be used to remove contaminants from the application surface
After cleaning, the surface should be rinsed with clean, warm water and dried with a clean, lint-free soft cloth

Application of decal:

Lay the decal on a flat surface
Carefully peel back the release liner completely (for two person application, one person can hold the decal while the other removes liner)
Spray wetting solution (Soap & water solution) onto the back side of the decal
Spray wetting solution onto the application surface
Position top of decal onto the moistened surface
Carefully use a squeegee or roller to remove excess moisture and air bubbles from under the decal
Working from the center of the decal to the outside edges using steady easy pressure
Carefully wipe newly applied decal with a paper towel to remove residual moisture so that the decal is dry
If air bubbles occur, smooth the air bubble to the outside of the decal (air bubbles can also be punctured with a needle and smoothed down with a squeegee)
